Nexity stock falls to €6.50, lowest level since 2018
Real estate developer Nexity crossed a symbolic threshold on Wednesday: its share price touched €6.50 during trading, erasing the previous low of €6.51 set in 2018. This new bearish record reflects a deteriorating trajectory over several months, as the Paris market retreats slightly and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East have suddenly intensified.
A new low since 2018 in a severely degraded technical configuration
The Nexity share touched €6.50 during Wednesday's session, breaking through the previous low of €6.51 set in 2018. The current price at €6.53 remains slightly above this intraday low, but the breach has been confirmed. The previous day, the share had already broken through its support level at €6.56 € and has not recovered it since.
The technical configuration is severe: the price is below the 20-day moving average at €7.01 (a 6.85% gap), below the 50-day moving average at €7.34 (11%) and below the 200-day moving average at €8.26 (nearly 21%). The RSI at 28 signals a clear oversold configuration, especially as the share has already lost 5.5% over the week and nearly 19% over three months. The nearest resistance level is at €7.47, representing a gap of more than 14% from the current price.
Short selling declines slightly, but sector context remains challenging
According to filed declarations, four funds hold 2.91% of Nexity's capital in net short positions, compared to 3.46% thirty days ago, representing a decline of 0.55 percentage points. This modest decline may reflect partial coverage of bearish positions following the sharp fall in the share price, without being able to infer a structural change in sentiment. A fraction of the capital therefore remains positioned for a decline, reflecting persistent mistrust among certain institutional investors toward the stock.
In today's environment, the CAC 40 is down 0.32% during the session, while implied volatility (VIX) surges by more than 10%, reflecting military escalation between Iran and the United States that triggered alerts in several Gulf countries on Wednesday. Among comparable companies, Icade is up 0.79% and Kaufman et Broad is flat, a sign that today's pressure is more specific to Nexity. Analyst consensus and the evolution of estimates remain a key point to monitor to determine whether this multi-year low modifies the price targets in circulation.
