Nokia Partners with Cinia to Secure Finnish Critical Infrastructures
Nokia and Cinia announced on Thursday, April 16, a partnership aimed at deploying an advanced solution for protection against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This collaboration establishes a new model of Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) designed to protect Finnish critical infrastructures.
A 24/7 Managed DDoS Protection Solution
Nokia and Cinia, a Finnish provider of critical connectivity and cybersecurity services, have established a partnership around a 24/7 managed DDoS protection solution. This collaboration is based on the MSSP model, which will allow Cinia to offer its clients a fully managed DDoS protection service, incorporating the detection and mitigation capabilities embedded in the network developed by Nokia. The solution utilizes Nokia's Deepfield Defender technology, which uses artificial intelligence to detect and mitigate DDoS attacks at the network level.
Combining Technologies and Expertise for Enhanced Security
The collaboration combines Nokia's technologies with Cinia's expertise in critical infrastructures. The Deepfield solution provides Cinia with detailed visibility into its network infrastructure through advanced IP flow telemetry analysis. This network visibility, correlated with a broader Internet context obtained via Deepfield Genome, supports Cinia's operational requirements to manage complex connectivity, including the international submarine cable systems operated by the Finnish provider. The partnership offers accelerated anomaly detection and more informed capacity planning decisions.
Leadership Comments on the Strategic Partnership
Jukka-Pekka Lithovius, Director of Development at Cinia, stated: 'Our cooperation with Nokia allows us to offer the most advanced DDoS protection capabilities on the market to our clients. By leveraging the services of Cinia's Network Operations Center (NOC) and Security Operations Center (SOC), as well as our experience in monitoring critical environments 24/7, combined with Nokia's cutting-edge technologies, we ensure that our clients' internet networks and services remain secure and reliable.' Jeff Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Nokia Deepfield, added: 'This partnership underscores Nokia's commitment to securing critical infrastructures on a global and local scale. By integrating our Deepfield and IP routing solutions into Cinia's managed services, we enable powerful protection against cyber threats.'
