Nokia Partners with Telia to Launch AI in the Core of Mobile Networks
Nokia and Telia Finland announce a collaboration to co-create use cases based on AI-RAN (Artificial Intelligence-driven Radio Access Network) technology. The two companies will jointly develop and test intelligent systems aimed at enhancing network performance and supporting the commercialization of AI-compatible applications.
Collaborative Development and Testing
The collaboration between Nokia and Telia Finland focuses on the development and testing of use cases based on AI-RAN technology. The two partners will work together on the design and testing of AI-driven systems for various industries, including mission-critical sectors. This initiative follows the functional AI-RAN tests completed by Nokia with its key clients.
Strategic Importance for Future Business Opportunities
According to Nokia, AI-RAN is a key component for future business opportunities as well as for network performance and efficiency improvements. For Telia, this collaboration marks a crucial step towards autonomous networks and will benefit its customers by increasing network performance and reliability. Nokia emphasizes the need for networks to provide deterministic and reliable connectivity, with transparency, traceability, and security controls built in from the start.
Live Demonstrations at MWC26
Nokia showcases several live demonstrations of AI-RAN technologies at MWC26, at booth 3B20 in hall 3. These demonstrations include AI Vision with reasoning capabilities, a delivery robot that could transform the retail sector, and the use of the radio network itself as a sensor of the physical world. Nokia also demonstrates how unused GPU capacity in the distributed AI-RAN network can be monetized by offering AI computing to external clients, as well as how AI-RAN can optimize network operations, improve energy efficiency, and support new AI-driven applications.
