North Atlantic Refining Resumes Operations at Refinery After 450,000 Hours of Maintenance
North Atlantic Refining begins restarting units at its Gravenchon refinery starting April 11, 2026, following the completion of planned maintenance on part of the facilities. This restart phase, estimated to take about a week, will be accompanied by intermittent flaring and occasionally higher noise levels than usual.
Ensuring Safety and Minimizing Disruptions During Restart
North Atlantic Refining is implementing all necessary measures to ensure the safety of operations and minimize nuisances as much as possible. Flares are a critical part of the refinery's safety system. The company is coordinating with the contractors involved in this critical phase. Management apologizes in advance for any inconvenience and thanks the local residents for their understanding.
Planned Shutdown Facilitates Significant Maintenance and Upgrades
This planned shutdown enabled inspection and maintenance work on equipment that normally operates continuously, involving about 450,000 work hours and 1,200 people per day at peak activity. Several key projects were implemented aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and the site's competitiveness, notably through improved thermal integration of certain units and the implementation of waste heat recovery systems. These improvements are estimated to reduce CO? emissions by 10,000 tons per year, calculated according to a methodology compliant with international carbon accounting standards.
