Orange: among the sharpest declines on the CAC 40, down -11.5% over one month
The telecom operator's share continues a decline that began with the start of the autumn season, while the Paris index remains balanced. Today's session places the stock at the bottom of the CAC 40 ranking, approaching a technical threshold that the market is monitoring.
A support level of €13.71 tested after more than 11% monthly decline
The Orange share drops 0.94% to €13.74 in trading, among the strongest declines on the CAC 40, which gains 0.13% at the same time. The price is just a few cents away from its support level at €13.71, a floor that the stock is approaching after losing 11.61% in one month, with its downward trend remaining intact. The RSI at 33 reflects the exhaustion of this decline without any rebound being visible in the figures.
The price is below all three moving averages: 5.11% below the 20-day MA at €14.48, and 16.78% below the 200-day MA at €16.51. The sector offers no support on this Monday: Telefónica is down 1.2% in Madrid and Telecom Italia down 1.57% in Milan, while Deutsche Telekom remains stable in Frankfurt. On Friday, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile US fell 8.75%, 9.81% and 13.27% on Wall Street, after already losing between 13% and 18% over one month.
A half-year with raised guidance, but a share retreating over twelve weeks
The current decline contrasts with the tone of first-half 2026 results, published on July 28: the group had raised its annual targets at that time, highlighting 13.9% revenue growth in Africa and the Middle East. Among the points of concern mentioned on that occasion were a 3.1% decline in Orange Business and net debt of €35.7 billion, following the exclusive takeover of MasOrange. Since then, the share has lost 13.42% over three months, with most of the decline occurring since mid-September, when it successively lost its €14.40 support level and posted the worst session on the CAC 40.
More broadly, today's session is taking place in a Paris market focused on public debt: the 10-year OAT is at 4.79% according to the October 9 reading, 1.32 points away from the Bund, while examination of the 2027 budget resumes in the National Assembly on October 13. The next numerical benchmark for the share remains this €13.71 floor, which the price is already touching.
