Orange Stock Oversold After 45% Rally: Citi Targets 19.70 Euros
Orange's stock fell by 0.52% this Friday, March 20, closing at 17.075 euros amid a general retreat of the CAC 40, which fell by 1.40% during the session. Despite this temporary decline, the telecom operator still shows a remarkable year-on-year increase of nearly 45%. The day before, Citi significantly raised its price target on the stock.
Technical Indicators Highlight Selling Pressure
Orange's stock price is now close to its lower Bollinger Band, set at 16.94 euros, indicating short-term selling pressure. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), having dropped to 28, is in the oversold zone—a level generally interpreted as a sign of temporary bearish excess likely to precede a technical rebound. This signal comes as the stock remains well above its 50-day moving average, positioned at 16.46 euros, which also serves as the main support threshold identified. On a broader horizon, the momentum remains positive: the 200-day moving average, at 14.37 euros, is well below the current price, confirming the underlying bullish trend. The nearest resistance is established at 18.19 euros, representing a gap of more than 6% from the closing level this Friday. The quarterly performance of 22.75% illustrates the extent of the recent rally, which could now enter a consolidation phase.
Citi Maintains Buy Rating, Significantly Raises Price Target
In a note published on Thursday, March 19, Citi maintained its buy recommendation on Orange while significantly revising its price target from 15.80 euros to 19.70 euros. This new target represents an appreciation potential of about 15% from the current price. This substantial increase—nearly 25%—reflects a marked reevaluation of the operator's prospects by the American bank. On the sectoral front, key comparables also showed declines this Friday: Nokia was down by 0.54% and Bouygues by 0.99%, in a tense market environment. The CAC 40 and the SBF 120 respectively lost 1.40% and 1.39% during the session, in a climate marked by a surge in energy prices linked to the conflict in the Middle East. The next catalyst for Orange will be the publication of its first-quarter 2026 results, scheduled for April 23.
