Pernod Ricard stock rebounds 2.5% after one-year low
After several weeks of sustained downward pressure, the spirits group's share price has rebounded during trading and regained some ground in a declining Paris market. The movement occurs in a context of increased global volatility, with the VIX showing strong gains on Monday.
An intraday rebound insufficient to overcome moving average pressure
Pernod Ricard gains 2.69% to €61.02 during trading, placing it among the strongest risers in the CAC 40, while the Paris index declines 0.83% over the same period. The stock rebounds from its support level at €59.42, which corresponds precisely to Friday's close, after breaking through this threshold during the September 10 trading session. Despite this uptick, the technical configuration remains under pressure: the price remains below its three moving averages, 5.76% below the 20-day MA (€64.75), 6.88% below the 50-day MA (€65.53), and 11.60% below the 200-day MA (€69.03).
The RSI at 30 flirts with the oversold zone without firmly reaching it, reflecting an exhaustion of the bearish momentum from recent weeks without a confirmed reversal signal. Over one month, the stock has still declined 10.71%, and over one year the loss reaches 32.51%.
Annual results continuing to weigh on valuation, in a sector under pressure
Today's rebound is part of a consolidation movement following the sharp depreciation triggered by the annual results published on August 27, 2026, which had triggered a decline of nearly 7% in a single session. The group had reported an organic revenue decline of 3.9%, driven by weakness in the American and Chinese markets. During this publication, management had communicated cautious guidance for the following fiscal year, anticipating broadly stable organic revenue in an environment it described as "mixed and uncertain".
This caution remains relevant in a sector of French spirits exporters where cognac exports declined 10.9% in value in 2024, according to sector data. The comparable stock Rémy Cointreau is also advancing 2.52% during trading, a sign of shared movement in the segment. The resistance level at €70.32 represents the next area to watch if the upward momentum were to continue.
