Soitec share falls more than 2% and drops below a key technical threshold
After posting the best performance on the SBF 120 the previous day, Soitec loses momentum this Tuesday and sheds ground in a Paris market itself oriented downward. The Isère-based semiconductor substrate manufacturer thus falls back below a technical threshold that had already weighed on its recent performance, erasing part of the weekly rebound recorded over the past few days.
A decline that places Soitec below its 20-day moving average, despite technical support at 50 days
The Soitec share loses 2.18% during the session, at €112.40, following a close at €114.90 the previous day. This decline brings it below the MA20, which stands at €117.67, representing a gap of 4.48% above the current price. The barrier is therefore no longer crossed, which constitutes a reversal compared to the positive momentum of last week. Conversely, the share maintains a cushion above its MA50 at €110.18, with a positive spread of 2.01%, which preserves the intermediate support identified during the late August rebound.
The RSI at 51 remains perfectly neutral, showing neither bullish tension nor marked selling pressure. The technical configuration thus remains indecisive in the short term: the price is evolving within a corridor between support at €95.48 and resistance at €133.50, with no clear directional signal at this stage. On the rolling week, performance remains positive at +4.22%, which moderates the significance of today's decline.
Soitec at the lower end of the SBF 120 today, amid demanding valuation and index decline
With a rank of 104 out of 120 members of the SBF 120, Soitec ranks among the values lagging the index this Tuesday, while the SBF 120 itself falls by 0.44% during the session. The CAC 40 declines in the same proportion, in a globally cautious European market. The VIX, a barometer of implied volatility in American markets, rises to 15.85 versus 14.43 the previous day, signaling a slight increase in uncertainty on Wall Street.
From a fundamental perspective, the share's valuation remains elevated: according to the consensus of surveyed analysts, the share is trading at approximately 172 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, and nearly 40 times those of the following fiscal year, leaving little room for disappointment. Over three months, the share has still posted a decline of 36.69%, despite the recovery initiated following the quarterly publication at the end of July. The MA200 at €79.17, well below the current price (a gap of nearly 42%), underscores the extent of the ground covered since the lows.
