Technip Energies Invests in a Green Aviation Fuel Plant in Rouen
Technip Energies has signed an agreement to acquire a minority stake in the DEZiR project, a synthetic aviation fuel plant located in Rouen. This investment is part of the group's support for this industrial project, which is a winner of the France 2030 initiative and the European Innovation Fund.
Technip Energies is investing alongside Verso Energy in the DEZiR project, a facility dedicated to the production of synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF). The group will contribute to the project by providing its Canopy by T.EN carbon capture solution, based on the Shell CANSOLV CO2 capture system, designed to capture biogenic CO2 from neighboring industries for eSAF production. Rely, the joint venture between Technip Energies and John Cockerill dedicated to Power-to-X solutions, is handling the basic engineering (FEED) of the project. Scheduled to commence operations by 2030, the plant will produce 80,000 tons per year of decarbonized aviation fuel.

Verso Energy and Rely share a common ambition for standardization and replicability, aiming to make DEZiR a model for the future deployment of eSAF plants in France and internationally. Under a dedicated collaboration agreement with Rely, Verso Energy brings its entire development portfolio, consisting of seven synthetic fuel plants located in Rouen, Épinal, Saillat-sur-Vienne, and Tartas in France, as well as Oulu and Tornio in Finland, and Jesup in Georgia, USA. This agreement aims to reduce costs and accelerate the market launch of eSAF. Verso Energy and Rely signed the first FEED contract for the eSAF plant project in Rouen in November 2025.
Strategic Importance and Environmental Impact
DEZiR is one of the most advanced eSAF projects in Europe and is among the winners of the France 2030 and European Innovation Fund initiatives. Its commissioning will enable France to enhance its energy sovereignty while contributing to achieving French and European climate goals.
