Technip Energies stock rebounds 2.5% and targets strongest gains in the SBF 120
Technip Energies regains ground this Tuesday, posting a rebound that contrasts with the downward trend of recent weeks. The stock is evolving in a charged geopolitical context, between persistent tensions in the Middle East and anticipations of a U.S. federal funds rate hike as early as tomorrow.
A 2.33% rebound that does not yet offset the severe monthly decline
Technip Energies gains 2.33% during the session, at €29.02, after closing the previous day at €28.36. This rebound places the stock among the strongest gainers in the SBF 120, in a Paris market that itself cedes 0.21%. The sector context plays in favor of the group: Brent is trading at $106.09 per barrel this Tuesday, supported by persistent tensions around oil infrastructure in the Middle East, notably the shutdown of a major Saudi pipeline following drone attacks. For a company directly exposed to the investment spending cycle in energy, firm crude mechanically improves the order prospects for its clients.
Over one month, the stock nevertheless still declines 7.28%, and over three months, the decline reaches 18.71%. Today's session only recovers a fraction of this correction. The brief published when the €29 support level was breached yesterday recalled the scale of the decline that began in spring. Upon the publication of the first half of 2026 results (July 30, 2026), the company had adopted a cautious tone by reducing its margin forecasts on the Project Delivery business, targeting annual revenue of €8.05 billion.
Technical configuration still under pressure despite today's rebound
The stock remains below its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €30.01 (gap of -3.30%), the 50-day MA at €31.35 (gap of -7.43%) and the 200-day MA at €33.92 (gap of -14.45%). These levels form a technical ceiling that today's rebound is insufficient to call into question. The RSI at 37, while not in outright oversold territory, reflects selling dynamics that remain dominant over recent weeks, and the MACD remains in negative territory with a histogram that is widening slightly to the downside (-0.0629).
Immediate resistance stands at €31.34, representing nearly an 8% gap from the current price. Conversely, the support at €28.36, breached yesterday before this rebound, now represents the first level to monitor if selling pressure were to resume. Moreover, the Federal Reserve meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, with a probability close to 90% of a rate hike according to money markets, could weigh on all risk assets and complicate any sustained return toward the moving averages.
