Thales Alenia Space Leads French DESIR Space Radar Mission
Thales Alenia Space has been selected by CNES and DGA to develop the radar payload and the user ground segment for the DESIR mission, a program aimed at providing France with sovereign space radar imaging capability. The project involves a consortium that also includes Loft Orbital and TEKEVER France.
The DESIR program aims to develop a sovereign French capability for space radar imaging, complementing existing international agreements. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging will enable observation during both day and night, regardless of weather conditions, thus enhancing existing optical observation capabilities.
