Airbus inaugurates facility in Toulouse to accelerate A320 production pace
At its Jean-Luc Lagardère site in the northwest of Toulouse, the European aircraft manufacturer has put into service an infrastructure designed to bring together production, technical adjustments and aircraft delivery to client airlines in one location.
This facility is part of the A320 family production ramp-up trajectory.
A facility to accelerate the final stage before delivery
Airbus has inaugurated this new center to support the production ramp-up of its A320 family. The stated objective is to optimize the final stage before aircraft transfer to airlines.
The complex streamlines industrial flows by consolidating production, technical adjustments and customer delivery in one location. It brings to sixteen the number of aircraft positions located in close proximity to the final assembly line.
It also includes a first hall dedicated to adjustments and technical finishing of narrow-body aircraft, presented as a way to improve fluidity and accelerate preparation operations.
35,000 m² and a facility dedicated to customer reception
Spanning more than 35,000 m², the project mobilized over 700 people and 50 partners during its construction. Customer reception takes place in a dedicated space, complemented by a customs clearance zone for international deliveries.
The facility offers customers direct visibility of their future aircraft from the work areas reserved for them. From a logistics perspective, the project routes the building's technical networks on the surface via a bridge designed to avoid disrupting the site's groundwater resources.
Airbus presents this infrastructure as a key element to support its long-term production objectives.
