Thales Shares Climb Nearly 2% Breaking Through €239.60 Resistance
The defense electronics group continues its recovery on the Parisian market, despite a CAC 40 trending downward in the early afternoon. The stock has been on a rising streak and is now leading the flagship index after breaking through a closely watched technical threshold.
The Stock Breaks Its €239.60 Resistance and Moves Above Its Short-Term Averages
Thales shares gained 1.85% to €242.60 during the session, among the strongest rises in the CAC 40 while the index itself fell by 0.04%. The stock broke through its €239.60 resistance during the session and has remained above it, a technical signal that extends the momentum that began early last week. Over seven days, the gain is nearly 12%, a rebound that partially offsets the more than 9% decline over three months. The price is now above its MM20 (€231.73) and MM50 (€234.86), with respective gaps of 4.69% and 3.30%, while the MM200 at €244.94 remains slightly above (gap of -0.96%) and constitutes the next graphical obstacle. The RSI at 43 remains in the neutral zone, leaving room before an overbought configuration. This movement follows the nearly 5% surge recorded last Friday, where the group had already led the index higher.
A Recovery Contrasting with the June Slide Due to Geopolitical Easing
The rebound in recent sessions erases part of the correction that began in early June, when the stock broke its €219.40 support amid Middle Eastern détente and a reduction in the premium given to defense stocks. The European geopolitical context remains tense, however, with continued massive Russian strikes on Kyiv in early July and renewed calls from Ukrainian authorities for the delivery of Western anti-aircraft defense systems. The group is also positioned on several key programs in Europe, notably the development, announced on June 11, of a multi-layer version of the SAMP/T NG ground-to-air system entrusted to Eurosam (a joint venture with MBDA) by France, in cooperation with Italy. Over one year, the stock performance remains nearly flat (-0.82%), reflecting the alternation between euphoric phases on defense and corrections. The MM200 at €244.94 will be the next graphical reference to extend the recovery movement.
