THEON International Opens Strategic Defense Plant in Belgium
THEON International Plc inaugurated on Tuesday its wholly-owned subsidiary THEON Belgium and its cutting-edge production site in Zaventem, in the presence of Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken. This facility marks a strategic step in strengthening the group's position as a European leader in defense technologies.
Production of Advanced Thermal Imaging Systems
The new factory will produce the IRIS-C thermal targeting system for the Belgian and German Armed Forces under the pan-European OCCAR IRCOD framework contract signed in September 2025. The group aims to produce systems from its A.R.M.E.D. range, meeting a growing global demand for night vision and thermal imaging technologies. This establishment follows the official setup of THEON Belgium on July 29, 2025, and includes partnerships with Belgian manufacturers in the electro-optics, metallurgy, and electronics sectors.
Multi-Million Euro Investment in Local Production
The multi-million euro investment in the new plant aims to strengthen local production and European industrial capacity. THEON emphasizes that this Belgian establishment combines Belgian industrial know-how in thermal and digital technologies with the group's proven electro-optical expertise. This initiative is part of a strategy for joint acquisition programs designed to enhance the resilience of the supply chain and European operational readiness.
