Tigerair Taiwan Orders Four Airbus A321neo Aircraft
Tigerair Taiwan has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus for four A321neo aircraft, marking the low-cost airline's first order of this type. This deal is part of a strategy to expand the network and improve operational efficiency.
Strategic Fleet Expansion
The order of four A321neo aircraft is part of Tigerair Taiwan's 'third generation' fleet strategy, aimed at maximizing operational efficiency for regional dominance. According to President Joyce Huang, the new planes, configured with 232 seats, will enable the airline to increase capacity on its high-demand 'golden routes' and accelerate network expansion. This expansion focuses on serving more passengers across more destinations with reduced cost per seat, while strengthening Tigerair Taiwan's position as the leading low-cost carrier in Taiwan.
Enhanced Fleet Compatibility and Efficiency
Tigerair Taiwan currently operates a fleet of 17 aircraft from the A320 family, which includes nine A320ceo and eight A320neo. The addition of the four A321neo will benefit from high compatibility within the A320 family, reducing training, maintenance, and operational costs. The new aircraft will also contribute to the goal of a younger and more fuel-efficient fleet. The A321neo offers at least a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO? emissions compared to previous generation aircraft, aligning with the company's commercial and environmental (ESG) targets.
