Umalis Group Integrates AI and 20 Agents into Its Payroll Management Platform
Umalis Group, the first payroll management company listed on Euronext Access Paris, announced on Sunday the gradual evolution of its historic management platform by integrating artificial intelligence and agent technology. The Portage AI prototype, already accessible, will serve as a reference framework for this transformation.
A Console Evolving into a Strategic Asset
The management console of Umalis Group, developed since 2012 by four young PhDs in computer science and management along with an engineer from Arts et Métiers, represents a major technological asset for the group. It has managed a cumulative billing volume exceeding 100 million euros while supporting the growth of the payroll management activity. The goal is not to abandon it, but to gradually evolve it into a new generation of tools, integrating AI modules dedicated to advisory assistance, optimization, document analysis, and activity management support.
This transformation is part of a pragmatic strategy: starting with a functional prototype as a reference, then evolving the existing console step by step. Umalis Group thus prioritizes service continuity, user support, and the secure integration of AI into its processes.
OpenClaw and NOVA: The Chosen Technological Architecture
For the past three months, Umalis Group has relied on OpenClaw, a software developed by the eponymous foundation, to orchestrate this transformation. This architecture utilizes 20 specialized AI agents, managed by a principal agent named NOVA, operating on the latest version of Claude, the AI model created by Anthropic. The infrastructure leverages the top ten artificial intelligences available on the market, each according to its areas of excellence, allowing for task allocation, analysis comparison, and some automation of operations.
The targeted use cases include administrative assistance, drafting responses, document analysis, anomaly detection, simulation, compensation optimization, and activity management support for payroll employees. This disciplined and gradual approach is intended to ensure controlled integration and genuine adoption by the teams.
A Transformation Centered on Human and Operational Control
Umalis Group asserts that the transformation must remain guided by the women and men who use these tools daily. The ten permanent employees of the group will retain control over operations, validations, and relations with consultants. The AI agents are designed to assist, accelerate certain processes, and enhance analytical capabilities, without replacing human judgment. The group also commits to gradually familiarizing payroll employees with a productive coexistence with the OpenClaw agent technology. Christian Person, CEO of Umalis Group, emphasizes, "Our conviction is clear: if the people do not embrace the change, the transformation can fail. That's why we are moving forward gradually, together with our permanent and payroll employees, towards a controlled and productive coexistence with the agent technology."
