Vallourec and XGS Energy Partner for Geothermal Projects
Vallourec and XGS Energy have announced a partnership focusing on the supply chain for tubing in three-gigawatt commercial geothermal projects in the western United States.
Strategic Partnership Announced
Vallourec, a global leader in seamless tubular solutions, and XGS Energy, a player in next-generation geothermal systems, announced a strategic partnership on January 28, 2026. This agreement focuses on the supply of tubing for three-gigawatt commercial geothermal projects deployed by XGS in the western United States. Vallourec will contribute its engineering expertise, industrial capabilities, and experience in high-temperature tubular solutions to support the deployment of XGS's closed-loop geothermal system, which operates without water consumption and is suitable for high-temperature geological environments.
Initiation of a Major Construction Project
This year, XGS Energy begins the construction of its 150 MW project for Meta in New Mexico, aimed at supplying electricity to the grid of the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) to support the operations of Meta's data centers. Vallourec is offering its THERMOCASE® VIT (Vacuum Insulated Tubing), a global benchmark for geothermal applications, featuring a double-wall vacuum-insulated tube. For Vallourec, this partnership marks a step in the expansion of its New Energies portfolio. According to Josh Prueher, CEO of XGS Energy, the short-term projects in New Mexico and California will make XGS one of the largest consumers of tubular products in the world in 2027 and 2028.
