Viridien Expands Walker Ridge Seismic Program to 5,491 km² in the Gulf of Mexico
The geosciences specialist has extended its multi-client seismic reprocessing program in a deep-water exploration area of the American Gulf, leveraging its subsurface imaging technology.
Extension of 4,406 km² Covering 189 New OCS Blocks
Viridien has recently launched the expansion of its Walker Ridge Reimaging program in the American Gulf, with the support of industry partners. The initiative extends the initial program and accelerated preliminary results are already available.
The extension covers 4,406 km² and 189 new OCS blocks in the Walker Ridge area, supplemented by 46.5 blocks overlapping the initial program over an area of 1,085 km². The total program coverage reaches 5,491 km² across 235.5 blocks, presented by the company as an exploration dataset intended to cover a broad position, with exploration potential linked to existing infrastructure (ILX).
Application of Time-Lag FWI Technology, Results Expected in Early 2027
The group is applying its seismic imaging expertise and Time-Lag Full Waveform Inversion (TLFWI) technology to enhance subsurface understanding in this deep-water environment. The project is expected to deliver a dataset for the extension area, merged with the initial volume, with final results anticipated in early 2027.
Dechun Lin, Viridien's Earth Data head, indicated that the extension program builds on the success of the previously conducted Walker Ridge multi-client study, which had generated commercial interest. Viridien employs approximately 3,200 people worldwide and is listed on Euronext Paris under the code VIRI.
