Viridien stock breaks through 97.8 € resistance and rebounds
The geosciences specialist continues its upward movement in a Paris market nearly balanced. The stock overcomes a technical threshold observed for several weeks, while short selling remains a key highlight of the file.
Resistance at 97.8 € broken and a gain of 11.9% over the week
Viridien stock gains 1.67% to 97.50 € mid-morning, after breaking its 97.80 € resistance during the session.
The stock even touched 98.40 € before retreating slightly, leaving it at this level. This breakout above resistance extends a gain of 11.9% over seven days, which has brought the price well above its 20-day moving average (89.20 €), with a spread of 9.3%.
The movement remains however below the 200-day moving average, at 106.61 €, or 8.5% above the current price. The oil context accompanies this rebound: Brent is trading at 110.97 $ per barrel, up 1.4% on the session, and the stock is directly exposed to the oil price.
Nine funds short selling: a cumulative 10.44% of capital
Nine funds cumulate 10.44% of capital sold short, according to the declarations consulted, the latest dating from October 23rd. This cumulative figure increased by 1.71 points in one month, against 8.73% thirty days ago.
Such a position reflects a lasting bearish bet by institutional investors, or the hedge of an exposure otherwise held, and the increase of recent weeks shows that it is not subsiding. This level makes the stock sensitive to shocks: last week's progress occurred despite this selling pressure. Third quarter 2026 results are expected on November 3rd.
