Viridien launches seismic imaging of the Langkasuka survey offshore Malaysia
The geosciences group has begun processing data from a multi-client 3D seismic campaign conducted in the Langkasuka Basin, offshore Malaysia. The operation relies on an approach combining streamers and subsea nodes, described by the company as a first in the Asia-Pacific region.

Viridien has begun seismic imaging of the multi-client 3D Langkasuka study, described by the company as the first multi-client 3D seismic dataset combining streamers and ocean bottom nodes (OBN) acquired in the Asia-Pacific region.
This project also marked the first deployment in the region of two Sercel TPS broadband seismic sources on a hybrid receiver campaign. The dataset will integrate 12,300 km² of streamer data and 3,300 km² of OBN data, acquired in the Strait of Malacca, offshore the west coast of the Malay Peninsula.
Imaging technologies and first results in October 2026
Viridien states that it is applying its imaging technologies, including time-lapse full-waveform inversion (TLFWI), to low-frequency TPS data in order to image the complex pre-Tertiary sequences in the area, where the presence of a previously unexplored Paleozoic sedimentary section has been demonstrated.
The company notes that the project benefits from a high level of industry funding and that first results will be available in October 2026. According to Dechun Lin, Head of Earth Data, the study is a continuation of work carried out last year on the Langkasuka Basin and reflects the group's commitment to making data available through a multi-client framework.
