-8% over the quarter: Vallourec stock advances, following the TotalEnergies contract
The seamless tube manufacturer extends its rebound in a nearly stable Paris market. The stock advances following a contract announced the previous day by TotalEnergies and rises back above its short-term averages.
A TotalEnergies contract of more than 16,000 tonnes for an Azerbaijani gas field
Vallourec stock gains 1.75% to €18.90 during the session, while the SBF 120 advances by 0.11%. The stock thus ranks among the strongest gainers in the index. This gain extends that of the previous day, when the group announced the award of a contract by TotalEnergies for an offshore gas field in Azerbaijan. The order covers well tubes (OCTG) and pipeline tubes, for more than 16,000 tonnes in total.
Over one week, the stock advances by 2.72%, but it remains down 7.87% over three months. CIC Market Solutions, whose price target remains set at €28, rates the stock as a buy, representing upside potential of approximately 48% compared to the current price. Analyst consensus therefore remains oriented toward a buy.
Above short-term averages, below its 200-day moving average and facing 2.96% of short positions
The stock is trading 1.91% above its 20-day moving average (€18.54) and 2.30% above its 50-day moving average (€18.47), which erases the decline from a week earlier below these benchmarks. The 200-day moving average, at €20.44, remains 7.56% above the current price, and the RSI at 52 is neutral. Resistance at €19.90 constitutes the next upside barrier, with support located at €17.53.
On the short-seller side, four funds cumulatively hold 2.96% of the capital according to filed disclosures, compared to 1.96% thirty days ago. The increase of one percentage point in one month signals a rising bearish bet without it becoming substantial, and this figure warrants monitoring without being interpreted in isolation. Brent crude, at $104.78 per barrel, loses 1.75% during the session.
