Ageas share hits unprecedented record since 2008, at €75.50
The Belgian insurance group crossed a symbolic milestone today, approaching a peak never reached since the subprime crisis. This intraday high comes in the wake of solid half-year results published last week, in a context of nearly stable European markets.
A record at €75.50 that confirms the rebound underway for several months
Ageas touched €75.50 in trading this Monday, erasing the previous record of €75.45 set during the 2008 financial crisis. The share was trading at €75.20 at the time of writing, slightly below this intraday peak. Over one year, the increase reaches nearly 25%, reflecting solid underlying momentum. Over the quarter, the gain exceeds 12%.
This movement is supported by recent fundamentals: first-half 2026 results, published on August 27, showed a 17% increase in revenue, with an annual earnings target of over €1.95 billion confirmed and a revised upward cash flow forecast. In terms of moving averages, the share is trading well above its 20-day MA at €73.45 (2.38% difference) and its 50-day MA at €71.83 (4.69% difference), two benchmarks now clearly outpaced that reflect the gains accumulated since early summer. The RSI at 63 remains in positive territory without signaling excessive overbought conditions, leaving the technical setup in a favorable zone.
Keefe Bruyette & Woods raises its price target, but remains below current price
In this context of an all-time high, analyst sentiment is evolving this very Monday: Keefe Bruyette & Woods raised its price target from €65.50 to €68.00, while maintaining a "market perform" rating. This revised target nonetheless remains nearly 10% below the current price of €75.20, illustrating the gap between recent stock price appreciation and formal consensus targets. On valuation, the share is trading at approximately 8.7 times expected earnings for both the current and following fiscal year, according to the consensus of surveyed analysts — a modest multiple for a share that has just hit a peak in 18 years.
Furthermore, the sale of its 30.95% stake in Maybank Ageas Holdings Berhad to Maybank for €1.1 billion, announced in early August, should generate a net gain of approximately €450 million after taxes once completed. The next technical reference point is the round level of €80, the first level to watch above the current price.
