Alstom Secures €380 Million Contract at Houston Airport
Alstom has been chosen by the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston to replace its automated passenger transport system, Skyway. The contract, worth approximately €380 million, includes the construction of a new control center, system upgrades, and the provision of 16 new Innovia APM R shuttles, along with 15 years of operation and maintenance.
Alstom has won the contract to replace the existing Automated Passenger Mover (APM) system at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. The contract includes the construction of a new operations control center, the modernization of automatic train control and communication systems, the provision of 16 new Innovia APM R shuttles, the upgrade of platform doors across all terminals, as well as the ongoing operation and maintenance of the system.

The total value of the contract is approximately €380 million ($437 million). The operation and maintenance services will span a period of 15 years. This order will be recorded in Alstom's financial year 2025/2026 during the fourth quarter.
Long-standing Collaboration and Future Plans
Alstom has been managing the operation and maintenance of the Skyway shuttle system at Houston Airport for over twenty years, initially with the Innovia APM 100 shuttles. In 2024, Alstom achieved a system availability rate of 99.63%. A dedicated onsite team of 48 people will ensure the operation and maintenance of the system. A replacement bus service will be provided during service interruptions. This new contract builds on a collaboration of more than 25 years.
