Among the best performers of the CAC 40, Capgemini shares climb 2%
The IT services group establishes itself at the top of the Paris index table in a market that is barely advancing. The stock continues a rebound well underway since summer and the gap with its moving averages continues to widen.
A rebound of 14.5% over one month that places the price well above its moving averages
Capgemini is quoted at €117.85, up 2.17% compared to the previous day, while the CAC 40 gains 0.05% and the SBF 120 gains 0.11%. The stock gains 8.7% over one week and 14.5% over one month. It thus stands 9.2% above its MM20 (€107.89) and 10.1% above its MM200 (€107.06).
The RSI at 65 accompanies this progression without signaling overbought conditions. The last test of the support at €101.15 dates back to the beginning of the month, when the price had briefly broken below €101 before recovering. Among the strongest gains in the CAC 40, the stock narrowly outperforms Veolia. Accenture meanwhile gains 1.16% on Wall Street this Tuesday.
Share buyback, short positions on the rise and valuation of 9.2 times expected earnings
The group announced on October 6 a share buyback program of €600 million. Over twelve months, it has already repurchased €575 million worth of shares, or 2.9% of its market capitalization according to its latest declaration read on July 20. On the short sellers' side, four funds hold 2.66% of capital according to the declarations consulted, compared to 1.19% thirty days earlier: the increase of 1.47 points in one month indicates rising downward pressure, which remains modest relative to the capital base.
Based on the consensus of analysts surveyed, the stock is trading at approximately 9.2 times the earnings of the current fiscal year and 8.6 times those of the next year, for expected earnings per share growth of 7.2%. The group raised its 2026 growth target at end of July to approximately 8.5% to 9% at constant exchange rates, when publishing its first half results. The next appointment is set for October 15, with the start of the blackout period preceding third quarter figures.
