Amundi Shares Drop 2.5% After UBS Cuts Target to 84 Euros
The asset manager's stock significantly declined this Thursday, in a Paris market weighed down by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Amundi fell 2.5% to 73.95 euros during the session, while the CAC 40 dropped 1.25% at the same time. The day was also marked by a valuation revision from UBS.
UBS Lowers Price Target on Amundi
In a note published this Thursday, April 2, UBS lowered its price target on Amundi from 88 to 84 euros, while maintaining a buy recommendation. At the current price of 73.95 euros, this revised target still represents an appreciation potential of about 13.6%. This decision comes less than a month before the publication of the first quarter 2026 results, expected on April 29, an occasion that will assess the collection dynamics and margins of Europe's leading asset manager. The adjustment of the price target by the Swiss bank occurs in a particularly uncertain market environment. The escalation of tensions between Washington and Tehran fuels persistent volatility across financial markets. The SBF 120, the reference index to which Amundi belongs, drops 1.26% during the session. Among comparable financial stocks, BNP Paribas experiences a more marked decline, at -3.60%, while AXA limits its drop to -0.22%.
Technical Analysis of Amundi's Stock Performance
From a chart perspective, today's decline has pushed Amundi's share price below its 50-day moving average, located at 75.96 euros. This downward crossing represents a short-term technical weakness, especially as the stock now approaches its 20-day moving average (73.81 euros), which serves as the next support point. The identified support threshold is at 71.60 euros, a level that has not been tested recently. The Relative Strength Index (RSI), at 57, remains in a neutral zone and does not indicate an oversold condition, leaving room for a continuation of the decline without technical excess. Over three months, the stock still maintains a positive performance of 4.75%, driven by an upward trend that started at the beginning of the year, and remains well above its 200-day moving average (69.58 euros). The general assembly scheduled for June 2 and the dividend payment set for June 11 will be the next calendar milestones for shareholders.
