Avantium: €4.7 million in revenue for the first half of 2026 and a closure agreement with Worley
Avantium published its interim accounts on September 30, 2026 for the six-month period ended June 30, 2026, after concluding a contractual closure agreement the previous day with its construction partner Worley for the flagship FDCA plant in Delfzijl.
Beyond the interim figures, the Dutch renewable chemistry company highlights several operational milestones achieved since the close of the period, while its accounts include significant uncertainty related to going concern.
Revenue of €4.7 million and EBITDA of -€18.8 million in the first half
For the six-month period ended June 30, 2026, Avantium reported revenue of €4.7 million and EBITDA of -€18.8 million. The cash position, including restricted cash, stood at €23.9 million as of June 30, 2026.
The company emphasizes that these elements confirm the importance of its financing and liquidity initiatives. The unaudited interim accounts, prepared in accordance with IAS 34, are consistent with the financial update published on August 19, 2026 and show no significant changes compared to previously disclosed information.
The accounts were prepared on a going concern basis, while including significant uncertainty related to this continuity.
Going concern conditioned on multiple achievements
The assessment of going concern is based on several assumptions. The company cites the completion of the startup phase and the launch of commercial operations of the flagship FDCA plant in the second half of 2026, the obtaining of additional financing through its financing package, and compliance with the conditions attached to its debt financing facilities.
This is supplemented by the realization of product sales and milestone payments from licensing agreements in the second half of 2026 and in 2027, the conclusion of discussions with Worley, and the execution of strategic options for non-strategic technology assets.
Since June 30, 2026, Avantium indicates it has made progress on several of these assumptions: first FDCA production at the flagship plant, contractual closure with Worley and advancement of its financing package preparations.
€75 million financing package and closure agreement with Worley
Avantium continues its financing package, composed of a planned capital increase of at least €55 million and a proposed Nij Begun financing facility of €20 million, intended to support the startup and ramp-up of the Delfzijl plant. The company anticipates launching the capital increase transaction in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to approval of the resolutions proposed at the extraordinary general meeting held on September 30, 2026.
On September 29, 2026, Avantium and Worley concluded a closure agreement aimed at resolving the main outstanding commercial and contractual issues related to the flagship plant, including pending invoices and claims, liabilities related to remediation activities and matters relating to titanium welding.
On the operational front, the company has secured 23 offtake agreements for materials that will be produced in Delfzijl and 17 capacity reservation agreements representing more than 150 kilotonnes of potential annual capacity from future licensed facilities. First commercial deliveries are expected towards the end of 2026.
