Avolon orders 110 Airbus: 35 A330-900 and 75 A320neo family aircraft
The order, announced in Toulouse on October 9, 2026, combines 35 long-haul A330-900 aircraft and 75 single-aisle jets from the A320neo family. It adds to orders already placed by the aircraft financing company with the European manufacturer.
110 aircraft: 35 A330-900 and 75 A320neo
Avolon, an aircraft financing company, has placed a firm order for 110 Airbus aircraft. The details are split between 35 A330-900, wide-body aircraft from the A330neo range, and 75 aircraft from the A320neo family, the manufacturer's single-aisle range.
The transaction thus brings together the two segments of Airbus's commercial offering, from short and medium-haul to long-haul. Airbus presents this announcement as an agreement that extends the partnership between the two groups.
Avolon's order book increased to 114 A330-900 and 650 A320
This is an incremental order. With this new commitment, the total number of A330-900 aircraft ordered by Avolon reaches 114 units, and that of the A320 family approximately 650 aircraft.
For Andy Cronin, chief executive officer of Avolon, this order strengthens the lessor's long-term delivery backlog. "This positions us to support the growth and fleet renewal needs of our airline customers well into the next decade," he said.
The executive expects demand for both the A330neo and A320neo to remain strong, given the long-term growth trajectory of the aviation sector.
Lessor demand confirmed for both aircraft families
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, executive vice-president in charge of sales for Airbus's Commercial Aircraft business, described the transaction as a "major order" for both aircraft families. According to him, Avolon confirms with this acquisition its position as the leading lessor of A330-900.
The executive also sees this as evidence of lessor demand for the A330neo and A320neo, which he attributes to the versatility of these aircraft on domestic, regional and long-haul routes.
According to Airbus, the A330neo, equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, can fly up to 8,100 nautical miles (15,000 kilometers) without a stop and reduces fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions and operating costs by 25% compared to competing aircraft of the previous generation. The A320 family has accumulated more than 20,400 orders worldwide, and the manufacturer attributes at least 20% fuel savings to it compared to single-aisle aircraft of the previous generation.
