AXA Share Falls 1.65% and Declines 5.5% Over One Month
The Parisian insurer is retreating alongside a sharply declining CAC 40, in a market made nervous by tensions over French debt and weekend violence. The share is nonetheless performing in line with the CAC 40 average, far from the index's steepest declines. The pullback has brought the share below two of its short and medium-term moving averages.
The AXA share is trading at €42.26 following a previous close at €42.97. The decline closely mirrors that of the CAC 40, which fell 1.38% during the session, and the SBF 120, down 1.37%. The share is neither among the top performers nor the biggest losers on the index: the session is primarily one of a Paris market under pressure. The Paris Bourse declined after violence that occurred Saturday in several French cities, while the yield on the ten-year OAT, raised to 4.85% by the Banque de France on Monday, is approaching its series high, just 5 basis points away from the peak of 4.90% on October 1st.
This spread with the Bund (1.42 points) remains wide. Over the month, AXA lost 5.52%, compared to a gain of 1.78% over the past seven days. The share remains 7.23% above its level from a year ago. The insurer announced on October 5th a share buyback program worth 471 million euros, a contextual element that does not account for today's movement.

The decline brought the share below its 20-day MA (€42.77, gap of 1.19%) and below its 50-day MA (€43.52, gap of 2.90%). The 200-day MA, at €41.46, remains above the share price, with a gap of 1.93%. The long-term average, near the €41.42 support level, thus forms the zone where the month's decline has halted so far. The RSI at 50.43 is neutral: the share is not oversold despite the monthly decline.
On fundamentals, management considered, when publishing H1 2026 results on July 31st, to be on track to achieve the objectives of the "Unlock the Future" plan. Operating earnings per share had then increased 8% over the half-year. The €41.42 level is the next downside technical reference point, while resistance is located at €45.06.
