BNP Paribas: stock declines 2%, ranking among heaviest CAC 40 losses
The bank retreats in early afternoon trading, as the CAC 40 itself heads lower. The stock extends a downward slide that has been underway for several weeks, even as an analysis firm has just revised its target while maintaining a favorable opinion.
A decline that places the stock below its three moving averages
The BNP Paribas stock loses 1.97% to €89.60, as the CAC 40 falls 0.87%. It ranks among the index's strongest declines, even though the session remains less pronounced than for Stellantis or STMicroelectronics. The stock is down -5.68% over one week and -11.45% over one month, once the €3.23 dividend detached on September 24 is neutralized.
It is trading below its 20-day moving average (gap of -7.43%), below its 50-day moving average (-11.54%) and now below its 200-day moving average (gap of -2.62%). The support level at €90.05, already tested on Monday, now lies above the current price. The previous day's decline adds to this picture, in a Paris market where the OAT-Bund spread widened to 134 basis points.
Autonomous Research adjusts its target but maintains an outperform opinion
Autonomous Research lowered its price target today from €120 to €118, while maintaining an outperform opinion. This target leaves approximately 32% upside potential relative to the current price. The analyst consensus serves as a valuation benchmark: the stock trades at approximately 7.7 times expected earnings for the current fiscal year, with an anticipated earnings per share growth of 14.1% from one fiscal year to the next.
On the governance front, Annie Pin will take over the general management of Arval on April 1, 2027, with Alain van Groenendael becoming chairman of the board of directors. The level of €90.05 remains the technical threshold that the stock has broken below.
