Cenergy wins €1.5 billion HVDC contract in Greece
The turnkey contract covers the HVDC electrical interconnection between Corinth and the island of Kos, in Greece. It aims to connect the Dodecanese islands to the Greek continental transmission network.
An EPCI contract awarded to the Fulgor subsidiary
Cenergy Holdings announced on August 13, 2026 that Hellenic Cables, its cables segment, won via its 100% owned subsidiary Fulgor S.A. a turnkey contract from the Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO).
The agreement covers engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of the 320 kV HVDC electrical interconnection between Corinth and the island of Kos, in Greece, for a total value of approximately €1.5 billion.
Hellenic Cables, through Fulgor S.A., is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the project (from conversion station to conversion station) and will manufacture HVDC power cables in its facilities in Corinth and Thiva, Greece.
The project includes approximately 1,260 km of submarine cables and 30 km of underground cables for the Corinth-Kos interconnection.
Its start-up is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 and its completion is scheduled for 2030. Contract signature is subject to customary statutory conditions and approvals.
A 1 GW interconnection for the Dodecanese islands
According to the company, the Corinth-Kos interconnection will enable the Dodecanese islands to be connected to the Greek continental transmission network.
With a total transmission capacity of 1 GW, it should enable the gradual phasing out of fuel oil power plants and strengthen the security and reliability of electricity supply.
This contract comes following the award, at the end of the first half, of lot A of an IPTO framework contract valued at approximately €1.15 billion, as recalled during the publication of half-yearly results on August 4, 2026.
