Colas Secures a 345 Million Euro Contract for a Highway in Ontario
Colas, through its subsidiary The Miller Group, has been selected by the Ontario government to construct the western section of the Bradford Bypass, a four-lane highway in Ontario. The project, valued at 345 million euros, is expected to continue until 2030.
A 345 Million Euro Contract for a 6.5 km Highway
Colas (via The Miller Group) has won the construction contract for the western section of the Bradford Bypass in Ontario. The selected stretch extends over 6.5 km from Highway 400 to Yonge Street, serving as a key component of a major investment in provincial road infrastructure. The Bradford Bypass is a 16.3 km controlled-access highway connecting Highway 400 (Simcoe County) to Highway 404 (York Region). The project follows a CMGC (Construction Manager / General Contractor) model, where the construction company is involved from the early design phases to optimize technical and operational aspects.
Imminent Start and Completion Scheduled for 2030
Construction is set to begin in the coming weeks, with a completion date set for 2030. The contract scope includes the construction of new interchanges, the replacement of a bridge, and the creation of a direct connection to Highway 400. According to the Ontario government, this project aims to reduce road congestion in the York Region and Simcoe County, with a potential time saving of up to 35 minutes on some routes. The project is expected to support approximately 2,200 jobs annually and generate up to 286 million dollars for the Ontario economy.
A Presence of Over 100 Years in Ontario
Colas states that this project represents a significant achievement for the group in a region where it has been established for over 100 years. According to the management, the agreement is one of the most significant contracts awarded in Ontario, reinforcing Colas's position through The Miller Group as a sector leader.
