Crédit Agricole stock trailing CAC 40, RSI fallen to 23
The green bank is losing ground in a Parisian market clearly oriented downwards, while weekend social tensions are reviving attention to French debt. The stock finds itself at the bottom of the index rankings.
A decline that places the green bank at the bottom of the CAC 40
The Crédit Agricole stock is down 2.29% to €15.36 in session, while the CAC 40 is declining by 1.31%. It is among the strongest declines in the index, in a session where banks are penalized following weekend violence in several French cities. The 10-year OAT, raised to 4.79% by the Banque de France on October 16, remains 1.37 points from the Bund. Crédit Agricole historically evolves inversely to this rate spread, a sensitivity measured over twelve years that provides no indication of future performance.
The decline adds to a series of losses: the stock is down 2.61% over the week and 12.62% over one month, performances calculated taking into account the coupon of €0.570 detached on October 13. This detachment in no way explains today's session. The stock is now trading 6.98% below its MA20 and 12.85% below its MA50, which reflects the scale of the recent decline.
RSI fallen to 23 and a consensus valuing the stock at 6.7 times earnings
The RSI at 23.39 reflects the exhaustion of the decline underway for several weeks. The support level at €15.65 remains just above the current price, maintaining focus on this key technical threshold. On valuation, the consensus of analysts tracked places the P/E ratio at approximately 6.7 times current year earnings and 6.2 times the following year, with expected earnings per share growth of 8.2%.
In terms of capital, the bank repurchased €1.3 billion in shares over twelve months, representing 2.8% of its capitalization according to its latest filing dated September 25. On October 13, Crédit Agricole also announced the acquisition of IKB from Lone Star, with an expected impact of approximately 20 basis points on its CET1 ratio, with finalization expected by the end of the second quarter of 2027.
