CTT: €338 Million Invested in Public Debt via Its Application, +64% in September
The Portuguese postal group announced in a statement published on October 14, 2026, that its customers have invested more than 338 million euros in public debt through its application since the launch of this feature. According to CTT, this service is part of its "digital transformation strategy" applied to financial services.
Approximately €25 Million Subscribed in September, 6,570 Transactions Completed
In September, amounts invested in Certificados de Aforro and Certificados do Tesouro via the CTT App reached approximately 25 million euros, equivalent to more than 1.1 million euros per day. The 64% increase is calculated compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of subscriptions made during the month reached 6,570, up 36% year-on-year. CTT presents this trend as a sign of "growing adoption" of its digital solution by its customers.
The group recalls that the return on Certificados de Aforro currently stands at 2.5%, the maximum level provided for under their issuance terms. It describes these securities as one of the most "competitive" savings products available on the market.
Complete Digital Access, Opening in Physical Branches
Certificados de Aforro can be subscribed to from €100, with additional contributions from €10. Certificados do Tesouro, intended for longer-term savings, are accessible from €1,000, also entirely digitally.
In the "Save and Protect" space of the application, available on iOS and Android, holders of a Conta Aforro account can subscribe, make contributions, view their transactions, and simulate the potential return on their investments. Opening a new account, on the other hand, takes place in one of the 563 CTT branches in the country, with an appointment being available online or by phone.
According to Nuno Matos, director of digital and commercial development at CTT, the application "is establishing itself as an increasingly important channel for accessing Certificados de Aforro", complementing the proximity of the physical network and serving the group's commitment to "innovation and financial inclusion".
