DSM-Firmenich Opens Office in Jakarta and Expands Karawang Site
The Swiss nutrition, health and beauty group announced the opening of a new office in Jakarta and the completion of the expansion of its Karawang production site. The operation brings together its three operating units under one roof and increases its industrial capacity in the country.
Three Units Brought Together in the New Jakarta Office
DSM-Firmenich announced on September 16, 2026 the opening of its new Jakarta office, certified by the Green Building Council of Indonesia. The site brings together the teams of its three operating units (Taste, Texture & Health, Perfumery & Beauty, and Health, Nutrition & Care) to strengthen cross-functional collaboration and develop more integrated solutions.
For the Perfumery & Beauty business, the office integrates expanded creation and application laboratories, immersive sensory experiences and facilities dedicated to testing air care products. For the Taste, Texture & Health business, it adds an application laboratory for bakery products and a pilot unit for ultra-high temperature (UHT) dairy applications.
The office also offers spaces dedicated to co-creation with customers and innovation. According to Timothy Elisafan, head of Taste, Texture & Health for Asia-Pacific, Indonesia has been part of the group's story for more than 35 years and is one of the largest markets in Southeast Asia.
Karawang Site Expansion and Green Electricity Supply
The group has also completed the expansion of its Karawang production site, increasing production capacity and strengthening sustainable innovation and manufacturing. The expansion includes new drying technology for reaction products and top notes, capable of processing products rich in fats and proteins, as well as new culinary blending capacities.
The site is powered 100% by green electricity. According to the group, electric heating is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 300 tonnes per year, while heat recovery reduces energy consumption by approximately 16%.
The inauguration ceremony of the Karawang site was held on September 14, 2026, and the opening of the Jakarta office was announced on September 16, 2026, in the presence of Chief Executive Officer Dimitri de Vreeze and several members of management.
