Econocom Acquires 51% of Bagnetti to Accelerate Expansion in Italy
Econocom announced on Thursday the acquisition of a 51% stake in Bagnetti, a Roman IT company generating more than €30M in annual revenue. This move is part of the French group's European consolidation strategy, aiming to expand its capabilities in the Italian market, particularly in the public sector, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
A 51% Stake in an IT SME with Over 40 Years of Experience
Econocom formalizes its entry into the capital of Bagnetti, an IT operator based in Rome, by taking over a majority of its shares. With more than 40 years of existence, Bagnetti combines the distribution of hardware and software with a value-added IT services offering aimed at businesses and the public sector. The company generates an annual turnover of more than €30M and maintains long-term strategic partnerships with major international technology publishers and manufacturers. This acquisition marks a new phase in the strategic plan 'One Econocom', based on targeted operations aimed at strengthening the group's critical size and deepening its sectoral expertise at a European level. Bagnetti will continue to be led by its current management team, consisting of Claudio Bagnetti, Giancarlo Bagnetti, and Daniela Fefè, thus ensuring operational continuity and the preservation of established customer relationships.
Italian Market in Consolidation and Multiple Growth Drivers
Italy represents a European IT market with strong potential for development, marked by an acceleration of industrial consolidation. This transaction positions Econocom among the main consolidators of the Italian IT sector and strengthens its role as a technological partner supporting the entire lifecycle of digital transformation, from consulting to implementation to managed services. The operation is based on several growth drivers: rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, increased needs for cybersecurity, modernization of IT infrastructures, expansion of managed services, and continuous investments in the digitization of the public sector. Econocom also anticipates additional dynamics from the defense sector and targeted vertical markets where both companies are already established.
Commercial Synergies and Expansion of the Service Portfolio
The operation is expected to unleash significant commercial synergies through cross-selling and up-selling initiatives, leveraging highly complementary capabilities and customer bases. Founded 50 years ago, Econocom distributes, finances, and offers managed services for the workplace, audiovisual, and infrastructures. The group, present in 16 countries with approximately 8,680 employees, recorded a turnover of €2.9 billion in 2025. It is listed on Euronext Brussels and included in the Tech Leaders and Family Business indices.
