Eiffage wins €162M for two energy recovery units in Limoges and Grenoble
The construction group has been selected, as part of a consortium, for the construction of two energy recovery units in Limoges and Grenoble. Eiffage's share amounts to nearly 162 million euros, out of a total amount of 393 million euros.
Two contracts awarded by local authorities in Limousin and South Isère
Eiffage, through its subsidiaries Eiffage Génie Civil and Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, has won several contracts for the construction of the new energy recovery units (UVE) in Limoges and Grenoble. In Limoges, the design-build contract was awarded by Limoges Métropole to the consortium composed of Soval, a Veolia subsidiary (lead contractor), Eiffage Génie Civil and the architecture firm Hobo, for a total amount of 148 million euros (Eiffage Génie Civil's share 34 million euros).
In Grenoble, the consortium composed of Eiffage Génie Civil (lead contractor), Eiffage Construction, Fayat Fondations (Franki, Séfi), Cancé, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes and Streiff was selected by Grenoble Alpes Métropole and six other local authorities in South Isère.
Allocation of amounts between lots and subsidiaries
For Limoges, Eiffage Génie Civil, with the support of Eiffage Construction, is responsible for earthworks, infrastructure and utilities, external development, foundations, structural work, envelope completion, metal framework as well as the construction of administrative facilities and the inspection gallery. Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, as a subcontractor, was entrusted with the installation of energy production systems, fluid circuits, electrical supply and centralized control system, for an amount of 33 million euros.
In Grenoble, the construction contract (excluding process), with a total amount of 77 million euros (Eiffage's share 62 million euros), concerns a new incineration and energy recovery unit on the Athanor site in La Tronche. In parallel, Eiffage Énergie Systèmes won, with Keppel Seghers (lead contractor), the process lot for an amount of 168 million euros (Eiffage's share 33 million euros).
A work schedule extending until 2031
The Limoges unit will process 95,000 tonnes of waste per year and will produce 110 GWh/year of steam and 45 GWh/year of electricity. Work will begin in early 2027 for commissioning in 2029.
The Grenoble facility, built on the existing site, will make it possible to process 165,000 tonnes of waste per year, with the energy produced supplying local district heating networks and also being converted into electricity. Work began this year, for commissioning at the end of 2029 and completion at the end of 2031.
