Eramet, Lithosquare, and BRGM Leverage AI to Accelerate Discovery of Critical Metals
Eramet, Lithosquare, and the French Geological and Mining Research Bureau (BRGM) announced on Tuesday the signing of a framework partnership agreement to combine artificial intelligence, geological data, and field expertise to identify new deposits of critical metals.
A Cooperation Model Combining AI and Geosciences
The three partners plan to combine recent and historical geological data from BRGM, the predictive capabilities of Lithosquare's artificial intelligence, and Eramet's operational expertise in mining exploration and project development.
Eramet will lead the operational management of exploration programs and the evaluation of opportunities. BRGM will contribute its geological data heritage and its benchmark expertise in geosciences. Lithosquare will deploy its proprietary geological AI technology and teams specialized in the analysis and modeling of exploration data.
Initial Deployment in Africa, with Plans for Gradual Expansion
The partnership will initially be deployed in various areas in Africa that show significant mining exploration potential.
The insights gained from this initial phase could then lead to a gradual expansion of the initiative to other continents. This framework agreement follows an initial exploration program during which Eramet and Lithosquare confirmed the effectiveness of their approach and cooperation.
A Response to Tensions in Critical Metals Supply
In response to the increasing global demand for critical metals and the growing scarcity of world-class deposits, the group is betting on technological innovation and cooperation within the French mining ecosystem to identify new high-potential deposits.
BRGM emphasizes that this partnership is part of several strategic dimensions, including the security and diversification of France's supply of critical minerals, supporting the energy transition.
