Euronext in September: equity trading +16.8% and derivatives +84.2% month-on-month
The monthly report published on October 7, 2026 by the pan-European operator covers 22 trading days, compared to 21 in August, and encompasses equity markets, derivatives, interest rate products, custody services and listings.
Equity derivatives up 31% year-on-year
On the spot market, Euronext recorded 58,742,684 transactions in September 2026, representing a 9.5% increase month-on-month and 7.5% year-on-year. The value of transactions reached €308,219.17 million (+16.8% month-on-month), with a daily average of €14,009.96 million, up 11.5% compared to August. Since the beginning of the year, the cumulative value of transactions stands at €2,984,097.55 million, compared to €2,465,435.83 million a year earlier. Equity clearing covered 22,281,618 contracts (+9.2% month-on-month, +5.3% year-on-year).
Total equity derivatives reached 14,987,297 lots, up 84.2% month-on-month. Derivatives on individual equities totaled 11,130,338 lots (+106.9% month-on-month, +41.6% year-on-year), of which 5,187,548 lots of futures, up 145.3% year-on-year, with Euronext reporting an increase exceeding 500% month-on-month. Index derivatives stood at 3,856,959 lots (+39.9% month-on-month, +7.7% year-on-year).
On a year-to-date basis, total equity derivatives reached 106,585,121 lots, compared to 99,999,953 a year earlier, representing an increase of 6.6%.
Capital raised up 126% year-on-year, primarily through bonds
On interest rate products, the daily average of MTS Cash stood at €101,411.05 million (+10.5% month-on-month, +90.1% year-on-year) and MTS repo at €232,208.02 million (+4.9% month-on-month, +5.3% year-on-year). At Euronext Securities, assets under custody reached €8,080.89 billion, down 0.5% month-on-month and up 5.6% year-on-year. Settlement-delivery instructions increased by 16.7% month-on-month, to 13,475,248.
Capital raised totaled €131,846.60 million (+97.6% month-on-month), including €131,091.74 million in bonds. Nine new equity listings were recorded in September, compared to two in August, raising €231.67 million, to which €523.19 million in secondary placements are added. The number of equity issuers stands at 1,845, including 1,412 SMEs, down 2.0% year-on-year.
