Eutelsat: OneWeb hopes to obtain India's approval before Starlink
Eutelsat OneWeb hopes to obtain the final authorizations necessary to launch its satellite Internet services in India before competitor Starlink. Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Enterprises and principal shareholder of Eutelsat, discussed the progress of the regulatory procedure on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, Sunil Bharti Mittal stated that OneWeb was significantly ahead of Starlink in its proceedings with Indian authorities. He recalled that the operator had filed its application five years ago and that its ground infrastructure had been ready for three years. He expressed the desire to obtain marketing authorization at least a few days before Elon Musk's company.
