Fnac Darty opens a 2,700 m² store in Toulouse in the former Théâtre des Variétés
The group announced the inauguration, on October 6, 2026, of its new store in downtown Toulouse, located in the former Théâtre des Variétés building, ahead of its public opening on October 7. According to the press release, this relocation serves "an unchanged ambition: to bring culture and retail to the heart of Toulouse".
Third Fnac location in downtown Toulouse since 1980
Fnac Toulouse Les Variétés replaces the store located near Place Wilson, which opened in 1992 and operated for over thirty years. The brand first established itself in the city on April 24, 1980, at Place Occitane. The group presents this new address as the third chapter of its history in downtown Toulouse. The selected building originated as a theater designed in 1837 by Toulouse architect Urbain Vitry, transformed into a cinema in the early 1930s, a period to which its Art Deco facade dates. "By investing in this symbolic place, we are choosing to combine heritage, innovation and accessibility," said Frédéric Tronchet, Fnac's regional director for the Southwest. He sees it as a project that demonstrates "confidence in Toulouse's appeal and the future of downtown retail". The brand operates two other stores in the metropolitan area (Fnac Micro at Jeanne d'Arc and Fnac Labège) and 12 in total in the Occitanie region.
2,700 m² spread over three floors, with Darty, WeFix and a Lego boutique
The store has 2,700 m² of retail space spread over three floors. It brings together the brand's usual product categories (books, technical products, audio, image, video games, games and toys, stationery), as well as a Darty section dedicated to small appliances and a WeFix section dedicated to the repair, protection and maintenance of smartphones and tablets. A Lego boutique is also integrated, presented by the group as a first for downtown. The store features streamlined customer journeys, order pickup solutions and personalized assistance, in line with the group's omnichannel model. Its layout should make it possible to vary the presentation of product categories and seasonal highlights, as well as to organize events for customers and members. The site employs 70 employees. Christian Arons, store manager, announced author and artist signings and meet-and-greets starting in October. This opening is part of Beyond Everyday, Fnac Darty's strategic plan through 2030, focused on omnichannel, services and circularity.
