Haffner Energy installs HRS hydrogen station at Marolles for 2027
Haffner Energy has announced the installation of an H14 hydrogen refueling station, supplied by HRS, at its Marolles site.
This step is part of the strategic direction presented in July 2026, which aims to combine its role as a technology provider with an energy producer activity generating recurring revenue.
Selling renewable hydrogen produced from residual biomass
The group based in Vitry-le-François indicated that the H14 station will enable the sale of renewable hydrogen produced at the Marolles site from residual biomass. This commercialization is intended to provide the company with a source of recurring revenue and allow it to demonstrate, under real market conditions, the competitiveness of hydrogen produced with its technology.
The station was ordered in 2022 as part of the cooperation agreement between the two companies. Haffner Energy specified that 70% of the contract value has now been paid, including a 20% milestone payment settled recently, with its installation having been suspended pending greater visibility on final hydrogen uses.
Installation is scheduled for 2027, subject to the completion of regulatory and administrative procedures, in particular those relating to French regulations on classified facilities for environmental protection (ICPE).
85% of equipment already installed or paid
According to Haffner Energy, more than 85% in value of the equipment needed for the Marolles production and refueling chain, from biomass conversion to hydrogen ready for delivery, have already been installed and/or paid for. Hydrogen sales are expected to cover the site's operating costs and enable it to become self-financing, while maintaining its role as a testing and training center as well as an industrial and commercial showcase.
The H14 station will be able to distribute up to 14 kg of hydrogen per hour and will primarily serve to fill trailers for delivery to other stations or industrial users, while also enabling on-site vehicle refueling at 350 and 700 bars.
The partnership with HRS is also expected to expand to hydrogen projects under the CORE100 booking program and to the data center sector, around a solution combining local renewable energy production and backup power supply.
