Halved in one quarter, SES stock rebounds by nearly 2% (RSI at 22)
The Luxembourg-based satellite operator is recovering in early afternoon trading, in a slightly positive Paris market. This upturn comes at the end of a decline spanning several months and ahead of its dividend detachment date.
A rebound that remains modest against a 50% decline in three months
The SES stock gains 1.76% to €3.81 in trading, while the CAC 40 advances 0.41%. The stock is trading lower than at the end of last week, but is recovering at its €3.75 support level, with an RSI that has fallen to 22. This recovery carries little weight against the 50.5% decline over three months, nor even against the 8.4% loss over the week. The price remains 13.9% below its 20-day moving average and 40.8% below its 200-day moving average, leaving the bulk of the decline intact. The October 8 session, when the stock had fallen another 3% and tipped into oversold territory, underscores the extent of the recent movement.
Dividend and share buyback: two key dates for the stock
The financial calendar is busy in the short term: the dividend will be detached on October 14, then paid on October 15. The group had set a target of at least €0.50 per Class A share for 2026 in September. Detachment will mechanically reduce the price by an amount equivalent to the coupon, a decline that will not result from market movement.
Furthermore, SES launched a €31 million share buyback program in June, executed at approximately 6% in early August, or €2 million repurchased. On the debt side, the repurchase of €363.4 million of its 2027 bond was confirmed on October 5, at 97.33% of par value. October 14, the detachment date, will be the next key date to watch the price.
