Hoffmann Green: a partnership to integrate marine calcium carbonate from scallop shells into 0% clinker cement
Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies has entered into a partnership with CSBT Environnement, a French company specializing in the recovery of scallop shell husks. The agreement aims to integrate marine calcium carbonate derived from this waste into the manufacturing of 0% clinker cements produced by the Vendée-based group.
A waste stream from the fishing industry integrated into clinker-free cement
The partnership announced on August 26, 2026 brings together Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies (ISIN FR0013451044), which designs and markets clinker-free cements, and CSBT Environnement, specialized in the recovery of scallop shell husks.
According to the press release, the fishing industry generates significant volumes of shell husk waste each year, the landfilling and incineration of which are prohibited. CSBT Environnement transforms them through a mechanical fine grinding process, without the addition of chemical products.
This process makes it possible to obtain marine calcium carbonate with a purity of 99%, reduced to a very fine particle size, compatible with industrial applications in the construction sector. Hoffmann Green will integrate it into its 0% clinker cements.
Regular and structured supply between the two partners
The integration of marine calcium carbonate into the formulation of 0% clinker cements results from innovation work aimed at integrating a bio-based material with the technical requirements of the group's binders.
In this context, CSBT will ensure regular supply of raw material to Hoffmann Green, structuring a value chain between the two companies. The marine calcium carbonate produced by CSBT is intended for several sectors, including agriculture, construction, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and plastics.
Julien Blanchard and David Hoffmann, co-founders of Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies, indicated that this partnership illustrates the group's ability to integrate alternative raw materials from the circular economy, and that it is part of its decarbonization strategy.
Gilles Bégué-Turon, Chief Executive Officer of CSBT Environnement, stated that the agreement aims to transform a local waste with no solution into an industrial resource, by structuring a complete value chain from collection to processing.
