IMCD Acquires Thai Merit Solution to Strengthen Presence in Southeast Asia
Dutch specialty chemicals distributor IMCD announces the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Merit Solution, a distributor of additives for the plastics and compounding industry based in Bangkok. This transaction, expected in the third quarter of 2026, allows the group to expand its offerings to the Thai and Southeast Asian markets.
An Acquisition to Consolidate the Plastics Market in Thailand
IMCD has signed an acquisition agreement with Merit Solution, a Thai company specializing in the distribution of additives for plastics, construction, and adhesives. Merit Solution employs 24 people and operates from Bangkok with an integrated laboratory. In 2025, the company generated a revenue of approximately 406 million Thai baht, equivalent to about 10.7 million euros. Pichit Pornthanalert, Managing Director of IMCD Thailand, stated that the acquisition 'will strengthen IMCD's position as a comprehensive solution provider for the plastics and compounding market in Thailand and Southeast Asia'. The group highlights that it will benefit from a talented team and enhanced business relationships and customer engagements.
A Holistic Solutions Platform for Processors
The management team of Merit Solution noted that combining plastic additive expertise with IMCD's existing portfolio would offer a 'truly holistic solutions platform' to processors and converters. This integration broadens the product offerings and local presence, enhancing the ability to support clients in improving performance, processing efficiency, and sustainability. The transaction is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected to be finalized in the third quarter of 2026.
