Lexibook: sales down 18% over four months, operating loss in the red
Published on October 14, 2026 as part of the simplified public takeover offer initiated by Doodle SAS, this activity update reveals an operating loss in the red at the start of the fiscal year. The electronic toy manufacturer also announced an additional marketing budget of at least €600k, which should weigh on its annual profitability.
An operating loss of €1.0 million over the first four months
Lexibook provided an update on the start of its 2026-2027 fiscal year, which opened in April. Over the first four months (April to July 2026), revenue stood at €12.6 million, compared to €15.4 million over the same period of the previous fiscal year, a decline of 18.3%. The company notes that these financial data are unaudited and provisional.
This decline was anticipated. When publishing its annual results on July 6, 2026, the group had indicated it expected a slowdown in activity at the start of the fiscal year. It attributed this primarily to the decline in sales of products under its main license, which had reached what it considered an exceptional level in recent years.
The drop in sales had an impact on operations. Over these four months, the operating result shows a loss of €1.0 million, compared to a positive result of €1.2 million a year earlier. This shift from a profitable result to a loss represents the most recent profitability indicator communicated by the company for the current fiscal year.
The trend continued in August. By the end of August 2026, cumulative revenue for the first five months reached €16.6 million, compared to €20.0 million a year earlier, a decline of 17.2%. The rate of decline over five months (17.2%) thus remains close to that measured over four months (18.3%), confirming the trajectory described by management since summer, with no sign of reversal at this stage in the published figures.
Components, logistics and marketing weigh on the fiscal year
For the full 2026-2027 fiscal year, Lexibook confirmed it expects revenue to decline compared to the 2025-2026 fiscal year. According to the company, the geopolitical context and deterioration in consumer sentiment, particularly in France, justify this forecast. It points to the launch of new products incorporating artificial intelligence and listings it describes as encouraging for the Christmas campaign.
The group has also identified several external factors likely to weigh on its annual performance. It cites tensions in the supply of electronic components, as well as extended delivery times. The latter causes delays and increased logistics costs, linked to increased reliance on air transport rather than maritime transport.
To support its sales, Lexibook plans to increase marketing spending, with a television advertising campaign and an international digital campaign. These expenses, totaling a minimum of €600k, were not provided for in the original budget and are in addition to the already-established communication budget. The company indicates that they should weigh on the profitability of the fiscal year.
The comparison point remains elevated. For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, whose accounts were published on July 6, 2026, Lexibook had achieved revenue of €80.04 million and net income of €7.12 million. Management had then adopted a cautious tone on its outlook, a position it has maintained in this new activity update.
