Medincell appoints Dr Edna Venneker from Grünenthal as Chief Medical Officer
The biopharmaceutical company listed on Euronext entrusts its medical direction to an executive from Grünenthal, a specialist in clinical development and regulatory strategy.
This appointment comes as the group advances several regulatory dossiers with the FDA and EMA.
A career focused on drug development
Medincell announced on September 1, 2026 the appointment of Dr Edna Venneker to the position of Chief Medical Officer.
She recently held the positions of Head of Development and Senior Vice President at Grünenthal, where she oversaw clinical development, clinical operations, CMC activities as well as data science, including pharmacometrics and Advanced Analytics. She had also served as Deputy Chief Medical Officer and as a member of the R&D management and R&D portfolio steering committee.
Her experience covers non-clinical and clinical strategy, regulatory affairs, program management and portfolio decisions, with direct interactions with the FDA, EMA and PMDA. She holds a medical degree from Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
An arrival linked to portfolio expansion
Christophe Douat, Chief Executive Officer of Medincell, indicated that Dr Edna Venneker was joining the group as it expands its portfolio and strengthens its collaborations with its pharmaceutical partners.
For her part, the new Chief Medical Officer spoke of her cross-functional role, bridging clinical need, pharmacology, formulation, manufacturing and regulatory requirements for long-acting injectable treatments.
Before Grünenthal, Dr Edna Venneker co-founded Afforce Healthcare, where she was Senior Partner, and held positions at Mundipharma Research, Pharming and Yamanouchi Europe (now Astellas).
