Mersen stock declines after gaining over 10% in the month
After a strong rebound of nearly 10% over the week, Mersen is losing momentum this Thursday and is returning to test a key resistance zone. The pullback is occurring within the SBF 120 itself declining, against the backdrop of rising bond yields weighing on European equity valuations.
A decline of 2.28% testing resistance at €42.04 after a ten-point rally
Mersen is falling 2.28% to €41.08 in trading, moving away from its resistance threshold of €42.04, a level that corresponds to the previous day's close. This pullback comes after a remarkable performance: the stock has accumulated nearly 10% over the week and more than 10% over the month, bringing its annual performance to over 62%. Consolidation was therefore expected at this level, particularly as the SBF 120 is declining 0.78% in trading within a tense bond market environment.
Mersen is among the most marked declines of the broader index this Thursday. The stock nonetheless remains solidly anchored above its short and medium-term moving averages: the MA20 at €38.11 and the MA50 at €38.15 are both located nearly 8% below the current price, testifying to the strength of the bullish movement initiated in recent weeks.
Oddo BHF raises its target to €50 on the same day the stock jumps 4%
The analysts' opinion provides a favorable perspective despite today's decline. Oddo BHF raised its price target on Tuesday, September 22 from €49 to €50, while maintaining a "outperform" rating. Relative to the current price of €41.08, this target represents an upside potential of nearly 22%. This upgrade occurred during the September 22 session, when the stock surged 4%, one of the best performances of the SBF 120 that day.
From a fundamental perspective, upon the publication of first half 2026 results (August 3, 2026), the company had communicated guidance targeting revenue of €1,260 million and an EBITDA target of €204.8 million. The RSI at 66 signals a slightly tense configuration without reaching overbought territory, consistent with a stock that has advanced sharply and is now consolidating on its resistance. The next support level to monitor remains at €36.18, approximately 12% below the current price.
