Neovacs to benefit from exclusive worldwide exploitation rights on lipids from the LNPReg project
The funding, awarded under France 2030, aims to sustain the partnership initiated in May 2024 between the Suresnes biotech company and the academic laboratory, with the ambition of ultimately creating a joint laboratory. In exchange for an additional contribution of approximately 40,000 euros, Neovacs will benefit from an exclusive and worldwide exploitation right on a portion of the lipids resulting from the project.
The LNPReg project selected by the ValoCité valorization committee
The valorization committee of the University Innovation Pole (PUI) ValoCité, a structure created as part of France 2030 and based in Paris, has awarded Lab&Co funding of 80,000 euros to the LNPReg project. This project is led by Drs Nathalie Mignet, head of the Unit for Chemical and Biological Technologies for Health (UTCBS, CNRS/UPC/INSERM), and Katia Lemdani, R&D Director of Neovacs. The two entities have been collaborating since May 2024 on the design of new lipids intended for mRNA formulation, in order to induce an antibody response against cytokines overexpressed in chronic inflammatory diseases. This work resulted in the filing, in 2026, of a patent application covering a new family of proprietary lipids for the delivery of messenger RNA-based therapeutic molecules.
An exclusive and worldwide right on lipids intended for regulatory T responses
Neovacs is providing an additional financing contribution of approximately 40,000 euros. In return, the company will benefit from an exclusive and worldwide exploitation right on the lipids used in the formulation of mRNA therapies for inducing regulatory T responses. The LNPReg project focuses on the development of new lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) enabling immune response regulation in autoimmune diseases. It plans to study the inflammatory profile of these nanoparticles in order to adapt their use to the profile of the disease to be treated, avoiding any exacerbation of symptoms. According to Neovacs, these lipids could ultimately be used to deliver different mRNAs in different indications. "The laboratory provides its scientific expertise, while the company plays a key role in valorizing the results and their development toward therapeutic potential," declared Nathalie Mignet.
A company at the preclinical stage funded through dilutive instruments
Neovacs, listed on Euronext Growth Paris, positions itself as a biopharmaceutical company at the preclinical stage developing RNA therapies for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. In the same press release, the company recalls having implemented financing in the form of an OCEANE-BSA with Hanover Square Investments 1 as well as financing in ORA transferred to a trust responsible for their conversion into shares. It indicates that shares resulting from these instruments are generally sold on the market very quickly, which may exert strong downward pressure on the share price, while the number of securities issued to Hanover Square Investments 1 and/or the trust may result in significant dilution for shareholders.
