Orange stock rebounds and posts one of the best gains in the CAC 40
Orange stands out this Monday in an almost stable CAC 40, with a rebound that contrasts with the downward trend recorded in previous sessions. The telecommunications operator's stock posts one of the best performances on the Paris index as the end of August returns, while the underlying momentum remains oriented downward over recent weeks.
A mid-session rebound that places Orange among the strongest gainers in the CAC 40
Orange gains 1.18% to €15.38 during the session, against quasi-stagnation of the CAC 40 (-0.04%) and the SBF 120 (-0.03%). The stock thus ranks among the strongest gainers in the CAC 40, recovering some of the ground lost in previous sessions. The last close had been set at €15.20, in a context of persistent selling pressure over recent weeks.
This partial rebound contrasts with a monthly balance sheet that remains highly degraded: the stock is down nearly 10% over one month and over 14% over three months, making it one of the weakest performers in the CAC 40 over the period. However, the one-year performance remains positive, at +10.61%, illustrating a recent and rapid deterioration.
All moving averages above the price, RSI in oversold territory at 32
The technical setup for Orange remains under pressure. The price is trading below its three moving averages: the 20-day MA at €16.06 (gap of -4.27%), the 50-day MA at €16.27 (-5.50%) and the 200-day MA at €16.38 (-6.14%). These three levels form a nearby ceiling, while the stock attempts to stabilize above its support at €15.10, the only technical reference within reach of current prices.
The RSI at 32 is in oversold territory, which testifies to the magnitude of the accumulated downward movement in recent weeks without mechanically signaling a reversal. On a fundamental level, when publishing Q1 2026 results on April 30, the company had highlighted the exclusive takeover of MasOrange planned by end of June 2026 and the entry into exclusive negotiations with Altice for the purchase of SFR as growth levers. Resistance at €17.40 represents the next hurdle to overcome in order to shape a more solid recovery.
