Philips Creates Global Clinical Advisory Board of 12 Experts for Sonicare Brand
In a press release published in Amsterdam on October 8, 2026, Royal Philips announced the creation of the Philips Sonicare Global Clinical Advisory Board, a clinical advisory board composed of specialists external to the group. Designed as a long-term collaboration, the body is intended to integrate the perspective of dental professionals into the product roadmap of the Oral Healthcare division.
Three Missions: Strategic Guidance, R&D and Clinical Exploration
According to the group, the board will have three missions: provide strategic guidance on emerging trends, support science-based product development and contribute to new clinical explorations. Philips presents the initiative as an ongoing exchange with global experts, intended to advance evidence-based oral healthcare.
The group justifies this approach by the evolution of the sector: according to the press release, dental professionals and patients are seeking clearer recommendations, more personalized routines and solutions based on clinical and scientific data. The stated objective is to bring external expertise closer to the innovation process.
"The Global Clinical Advisory Board helps us continue to develop evidence-based innovations that meet the needs of professionals and the people they care for," said Francesco Grillo, Global Head of Philips' Oral Healthcare unit.
Profiles from Research, Clinical Practice and Teaching
The 12 members cover clinical practice, research, teaching, behavioral change, digital dentistry and oral health innovation. The majority are academics, including Purnima Kumar (University of Michigan), Iain Chapple (University of Birmingham) and Dagmar Else Slot (Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam).
France is represented by Virginie Monnet-Corti, Professor and Head of the Department of Periodontics at Aix-Marseille University and Timone Hospital (AP-HM). The board also includes members practicing in Switzerland, China, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, including two practitioners in private practice or clinic.
For Andrew Bower, Head of the Dental Professional & Strategic Adjacencies category, the board should help Philips Sonicare "anticipate the evolution of the profession" and translate expert opinion into innovations.
